Shelley Hughes, PMHNP-BC
Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Shelley Hughes is a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). She grew up in southeast Michigan and has been a resident of the greater Flint area since 2016. Previously, she has worked as a registered nurse in both medical and psychiatric hospital units in Flint, Auburn Hills, and Ann Arbor and holds a Masters of Science in Nursing from the University of Michigan – Flint. Her patient care experience includes providing comprehensive and compassionate care to children and adults in the acute stages of mental health crises, as they transition back into an outpatient setting for ongoing stabilization.
While medication management is an important element, achieving optimal outcomes often involves a multi-disciplinary team of professionals working in concert to maximize well-being broadly within the life of each person served. Understanding that each person’s journey to mental health wellness looks different, Shelley utilizes active listening through an unbiased lens to formulate individualized treatment plans to assist each individual achieve their goals. Outside of her career, Shelley enjoys spending time with her husband and children, enjoying outdoor adventures, attending sporting events, spending time on her yoga mat, and playing with her three rescued pit-bulls.
