Specialties:
I grew up as a CODA (Child of Deaf Adult), immersed in Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Hearing communities. It allowed me to become fluent in American Sign Language as well as gain deep insights into diversity, social justice, inclusion, accessibility and cultural perceptions. I graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelors degree in Social Work in 2007 and a Masters degree in Social Work in 2011. I previously worked as a Guide Dog Mobility Instructor in the Deaf-Blind Program at Leader Dogs for the Blind, working with clients that possessed various cognitive, physical and unique impairments. As a social worker I work with all ages (children, youth and adults) with experience in mental health, foster care, school social work, ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) therapy, individual, group, couples and family therapy. I tend to use a variety of strategies and interventions including art therapy, play therapy, motivational interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, psychoeducation, solution-focused, strengths-based and more to establish rapport and assist clients in reaching their full potential in health, wellness and within their communities!
